Getting it Right... Now or Never

Tucked within the details of Fox Network's Glee is the final map that guides us between the story that originated in the Garden of Eden and the new Sacred Story set to play out within the framework of the Garden of All Fulfilled Desires.

Beneath the semblance of high school students struggling to find their place in the world... you can discover mythical archetypes playing out hidden storylines that both authenticate and advance the larger story that's developed over the past year. What the creators (Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan) of this television series don't know, is their work bears all the markings of the Master Storyteller who's been busy behind the scenes. Which means Glee, like all the other novels and scripts of the gemstone, is woven with imaginative threads of inspiration that come from a Divine source, God himself.

For our purposes and in Glee terms, McKinley High School's football quarterback, Finn Hudson, is a mash-up of Irish mythology--with ties to the Salmon of Wisdom we previously encountered--and the Christ archetype of the Bible. Rachel Berry embodies Mary Magdalene in a modern setting as she struggles to let go of the old story and allow it to go its own way.

This idea of the "ship" recurs in the episode A Night of Neglect when Rachel says she's going to sing Celine Dion's "Our Hearts Will Go On," which has ties to the movie Titanic.

In the segment titled Prom Queen, Jessie makes an unexpected return when he appears in the doorway of the school auditorium and joins Rachel on the stage in a duet singing Adele's Rolling in the Deep. His entrance is punctuated with the lyrics, "Finally, I can see you crystal clear. Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare..."

What Jessie doesn't know is, in reality, the Master Storyteller has already sucked the wind out of his sails by revealing the truth of what happened in times past via the larger gemstone of stories.

Glee's season two draws to a close this coming Tuesday, May 24th. If you want a glimpse of the path the Sacred Story is taking--something Blaine knows like the back of his hand--watch recent episodes and let your imagination work with the storyline and song lyrics. A Story Written by the Very Moving of the Moon

Gordon Gekko changed while he was in prison. Back in 1987 when the first Wall Street movie was released, Gordon destroyed people’s lives plain and simply because he could. But once “Mr. Insider” was forced to live up to his moniker and spend 8 years on the inside looking out, he saw a world that—from his vantage point—had gone nuts. He had plenty of time to contemplate what it means to be human and the role he would play in “the game” when that opportunity availed itself once again.

In Gordon’s comeback story, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, the narrative provided by character Jacob (Jake) Moore speaks of the evolution of human beings following the Cambrian Explosion some 500 million years ago, while the lyrics of songs by David Byrne and Brian Eno overlaid upon scenes focus on this place called "Home."

I memorized a face so it’s not forgotten
I hear the wind whistlin’
Come back anytime
And we’ll mix our lives together
Heaven knows—what keeps mankind alive
Ev’ry hand goes searching for its partner
In crime—under chairs and behind tables
Connecting to places we have known


The story picks up as Gordon Gekko is being released from prison on October 22nd, 2001 in the wake of the events of 9/11. It then jumps ahead to the summer of 2008 just as financial markets are beginning to fall apart at the seams. In the unseen years, Gordon has written a book about greed and schedules an appearance in the right place at precisely the right moment to cross paths with his future son-in-law—our narrator Jake—with whom he later confides, “A fisherman can always see another fisherman from afar.”

For someone who’s been relegated to the sidelines, Gordon operates with the advantage of someone with firm footing on the inside track. He knows all the moves that others have made, even ones he feigns ignorance of, and has everything under control when everyone else’s world turns upside-down.

While shopping, Gordon tries on a pair of shoes and tells the salesman he’ll take four of them which means he’s either going to stockpile soles that bring him comfort… or he’s secretly related to Paul the Octopus.

Feeling the economic vise tightening its grip on their lives, Gordon’s daughter Winnie asks Jake to return her diamond engagement ring and replace it with one from a box of Cracker Jacks… just like the Cracker Jack ring that Paul Varjak had engraved for Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Winnie has a website called Frozen Truth on which a contributing writer named Jack Salmon has published an article… though there’s no indication that this Jack Salmon is one and the same as Susie Salmon’s father in The Lovely Bones. During their first dinner together, Gordon comments that he doesn’t agree with the article’s position that the administration is at fault for the current mess... just as he catches a glimpse of a man he knows as “Graydy” walking through the restaurant. In Catch and Release, Grady was part of the mess that Gray and Fritz had to clean up. Gordon rises from his chair as Graydy’s party is passing their table and tells him he’s doing a really good job “down there.” Graydy dismisses their encounter as we see him shrugging his shoulders when one of his dinner associates quietly asks who Gordon is.

Right now, it is ugly times ugly. And that’s when the ugly get going. You tell them for me, babe, Gordon Gekko is back.”

If you’re new to this blog, every story of the gemstone includes a character who, for our purposes, is God incognito. Gordon represents the aspect of God who has been in a self-imposed “prison” watching the world run amok for the past two thousand years.

Truth be told, God IS back… with a vengeance, and the game of “what goes around comes around” has been raised to a whole new level.

In the movie, Jake’s mentor, Louis Zabel, asks Jake to come to the office upstairs where he's handed an unexpected "bonus" check. The very large clock on the wall shows that the time is 10:10 a.m.

In quick pace, Louis' billion dollar company, Keller Zabel, is rendered worthless. Following a failed effort to secure a new investor, Louis throws himself in front of an oncoming subway train.

When Gordon reveals a few details from the past, Jake and an associate do a little on-line research and realize that the “adjustment” was fueled by rumors planted by Bretton James in a vendetta for Louis’ actions during the Dotcom implosion years earlier. Jake himself jumps into the game. As one event leads to another, Jake is invited to meet with Bretton and is offered the opportunity to join his firm, Churchill Schwartz, to develop their holdings in alternative energy. Jake swallows the bait and accepts the offer with the hope of making lots of money and melting Bretton’s ass in the process.

When that day arrives, Bretton asks Jules, the elderly director who is set to retire soon, to stand up and figuratively step in front of the train wreck that is about to happen and take the hit for him. Jules rebukes Bretton, “We both know that’s not going to happen… kid.” With the aid of a cane, the old man stands and works his way slowly toward the door, then turns to look back with one last piece of advice:

“You look for the birds. They're going to help you, those birds. You'll see. Good luck."

Picking up Where the Birds Left Off

We’ve already discovered the significance of the birds. In my last blog, “Thank God for the Frenzy,” it was revealed that the spate of mass bird and fish deaths that occurred between December 24th, 2010 and January 7th, 2011 were not only connected by their details, they were perfectly executed in a meaningful sequence.

The quandary that followed was in determining which of the details would carry the unfolding story to ever greater meaning… something capable of sustaining a mass population of people for the long haul.

As I was vacillating between details that were tied to World Wars, train tracks and depots, or perhaps the geological history of the Mercury Islands off the coast of New Zealand, I came to the realization that the story about bird and fish deaths was effectively silenced when gun shots pierced the air the morning of January 8th.

The void created with the explosion of bullets was then filled with emotions: shock, grief, anger, blame, disbelief, guilt, compassion... and utter sadness. And in those days that followed, love strove to cut through the pain, swallowing it in great gulps, leaving behind details that revealed the very personal faces and relationships that were irrevocably etched in time.

My blog that captured the details of the birds was posted on January 13th and briefly touched upon Shakespeare’s poem The Phoenix and the Turtle which is about the death of love. The very next morning CNN.com published The Congresswoman and the Astronaut: A Love Story, which captured the courtship and wedding that joined Gabrielle Giffords with Capt. Mark Kelly. The article closed with the words engraved on the ring worn on Gabrielle's finger: “You’re the closest to heaven that I’ve ever been.”

From an astronaut, that’s saying quite a bit. It didn't escape my notice that Mark Kelly's surname matches the first name of character Kelly Stone, God incognito in The Family Stone.

As January moved forward, the days were filled with seemingly unrelated historical remembrances. January 20th marked the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address; it was also the 30th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s first inaugural address. And both of these men have a history with this blog with their references to “the city upon a hill.” (Oracles, Omens, and the World Cup)

In his inaugural address, John F. Kennedy proclaimed, “Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alive, that the torch has been passed...”

Ronald Reagan reminded us of our achievements: “If we look to the answer as to why, for so many years, we achieved so much, prospered as no other people on Earth, it was because here, in this land, we unleashed the energy and individual genius of man to a greater extent that has ever been done before. Freedom and the dignity of the individual have been more available and assured here than in any other place on Earth. The price for this freedom at times has been high, but we have never been unwilling to pay that price."

He spoke of fate: We are not, as some would have us believe, doomed to an inevitable decline. I do not believe in a fate that will fall on us no matter what we do. I do believe in a fate that will fall on us if we do nothing. So, with all the creative energy at our command, let us begin an era of national renewal. Let us renew our determination, our courage, and our strength. Let us renew our faith and our hope."

He spoke of heroic dreams: “We have every right to dream heroic dreams. Those who say we are in a time when there are no heroes just don’t know where to look. You can see heroes every day going in and out of factory gates. Others, a handful in number, produce enough food to feed all of us and then the world beyond. You meet heroes across a counter—and they are on both sides of that counter. I have used the words ‘they’ and ‘their’ in speaking of these heroes. I could say ‘you’ and ‘yours’ because I am addressing the heroes of whom I speak—you, the citizens of this blessed land. Your dreams, your hopes, your goals are going to be the dreams, the hopes, and the goals of this administration, so help me God."

He spoke of independence: “On the eve of our struggle for independence a man who might have been one of the greatest among the Founding Fathers, Dr. Joseph Warren, President of the Massachusetts Congress, said to his fellow Americans, ‘Our country is in danger, but not to be despaired of…. On you depend the fortunes of America. You are to decide the important question upon which rests the happiness and the liberty of millions yet unborn. Act worthy of yourselves.”

Evolution and the Realization of an Intent

The world has evolved since America’s Founding Fathers waged a war for liberty and justice for all. While the boundaries that divide parcels of land are much the same, the boundaries that distinguish the business of human beings have been blurred. And so the important question upon which rests the happiness and the liberty of all those yet unborn, reaches far beyond America; it encompasses every parcel of land and water in this place called Home.

January 28th marked the 25th anniversary of the Challenger Disaster. That evening Ronald Reagan was scheduled to deliver his State of the Union address but instead spoke of the tragedy. In his closing, he borrowed words from John Gillespie McGee’s poem "High Flight": “We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye and ‘slipped the surly bonds of earth’ to ‘touch the face of God.’”

In an exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer, astronaut Capt. Mark Kelly spoke about how Gabby had "reached up her hand and placed it on his face." It was a familiar gesture that carried a personal message for the astronaut. For the rest of us, Gabby’s actions come as a reminder that God is within each of us. There was truth to that old story suggesting we were first created in the image of God and then mixed with the clay of the earth. That portion of God within us never went away, indeed the notion of survival of the fittest portends that we have become ever more like God in our human evolution. And in that process... Gordon Gekko will tell you that God has become more human.

At the National Prayer Breakfast on February 3rd, Mark Kelly talked again about the event in which his wife Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head, twelve others were wounded, and six people died. He said, “Maybe it was fate. I hadn’t been a big believer in fate until recently. I thought the world just spins and the clock just spins.” “I can only hope that this is just one small part of a larger plan.”

The more I compiled the details that followed the shooting in Tucson, the more I began to understand that this was an event of monumental significance in the history of humanity, destined to provide an insight into life that is much grander than what most people see in its physical reality.

And those dead birds provided all the details we needed in order to comprehend the meaning of what happened in Tucson.

Something Choreographed from Somewhere Far Away

In Alice Sebold’s novel, The Lovely Bones, on nights when Susie and Holly can’t sleep, they watch the air above hospitals and nursing homes become thick and fast with souls. “We came to realize how these deaths seemed choreographed from somewhere far away. Not our own heaven. And so we began to suspect that there was a place more all-encompassing than where we were.”

The key to understanding the meaning of the birds and fish that died was to follow behind the invisible pen of the Master Storyteller, gather up the details, and weave them into the growing gemstone of stories. Once a strategy is introduced by the Master Storyteller it is sure to be repeated . . .

The tragedy in Tucson includes images of black and white ribbons… like the black and white candles in a medieval portrait of Mary Magdalene as noted in “Knots and Knots of Fish.” The simultaneous appearance of the names Gabrielle and Gabriel come with a reminder of the split-aparts that Marina talked about in The Butcher’s Wife, though in reality Gabrielle and Gabriel each have different soul-mates. Marina helped us to understand the relationship between Gray and Fritz in the movie Catch and Release whose roles in reality involve "cleaning up" the story of Mary Magdalene and Paul and include the presence of the Archangels Gabriel and Raphael. The Safeway store where the shooting took place was located at 7100 N. Oracle Rd…. while the details of the mass fish and bird deaths picked up where my blog, “Oracles, Omens, and the World Cup,” left off. The shooter ran a red light when he crossed Interstate 10, a road with the same numeric equivalent as Highway 1 where those adulterous red-winged blackbirds were found dead on January 3rd. He lived in the 7700 block of N. Soledad Ave… too close to ground zero to see the larger picture and offering a detail that reaches back to Soledad O’Brien’s journey highlighted in my blog “In a World Gone Upside Down.”

A year ago Soledad O'Brien and her associates were “followed by an enormous full moon” as they traveled to ground zero of the 8.8 earthquake in Chile. In March, 2010 she wrote, “This region seems to be too lovely to be the scene of any tragedy.”

Ten months later, 220 miles above Earth, Commander Scott Kelly—Capt. Mark Kelly’s identical twin brother—led a National Moment of Silence with his crew which he began with the words, “We have a unique vantage point here aboard the International Space Station. As I look out the window, I see a very beautiful planet that seems very inviting and peaceful. Unfortunately, it is not.”

Scott Kelly’s observation represents a giant step for mankind as it provides a historical record of what Eve set out to accomplish when she ate from the Tree of Knowledge… to become wise like those who look upon us from the heavens above.

A Little Child Shall Lead Them

I suspect every person who was injured or died that Saturday morning brings with them a detail that has meaning, but none of them more than the 9 year-old girl, Christina Taylor Green, whose life was bookended by tragedy.

Who was this little girl who knew in her heart how "lucky" and how "blessed" we are in this time and in this place? We know she was among a group of babies born the same day as the 9/11 terrorist attacks and went on to become one of the faces of Hope in a book that celebrated each of their arrivals. But none of those other children shared her fate. Only Christina Taylor Green was born on a tragic day in history and died in a spray of bullets outside a grocery store called Safeway, on Oracle Road, at the tender age of 9.

At 10:10 a.m. (17:10 UT/GMT)—the moment the shots rang out in Tucson—the Sun was in Capricorn 19 whose Sabian Symbol is “A Child of About Five Carrying a Huge Shopping Bag Filled with Groceries.

Moon was in Pisces 8, “A Girl Blowing a Bugle.”

In The Da Vinci Code, the number five is symbolic of the Sacred Feminine and within the novel Mary Magdalene represents the lost Sacred Feminine. A shopping bag filled with groceries is surely intended to provide for our needs... a luxury of convenience that we often take for granted.

The sounding of a bugle captures an image of someone performing reveille, the military wake-up call that can be heard at the dawn of a new day.

While I was scanning through the various details that came with the mass bird and fish deaths, my eyes came to rest on Chaucer’s Treatise of the Astrolabe which he wrote for his son with the aim of serving multiple purposes, among them providing a table showing “the very moving of the moon.”

An ancient astrolabe was the first treasure uncovered in the novel The Last Templar. It was also the name given to Abelard and Heloise’s son, who some have said was so named that he might reach for the stars. Considering how the gemstone story has evolved in the past year, I decided to once again explore this detail of the “astrolabe” and follow threads for as long as they provided meaning.

The page in Wikipedia.com devoted to the astrolabe includes an image of Three Capetian scholars studying an astrolabe; the image is attributed to the Psalter of Saint Louis and Blanche of Castile. Saint Louis was the grandson of King Louis VII, who was recently determined to have an important connection to the original story of the grail. Blanche of Castile was Eleanor of Aquitaine's granddaughter. Although Louis VII and Eleanor were once married and produced two daughters, these particular grandchildren that married were of no blood relation.

One of issues occurring with greater frequency while following details of the gemstone is that a single detail leads to two others that share the same words—yet each provides a different trail to follow. A choice has to be made as to which of them provides the greatest meaning or greatest mileage for the story. As one thread led to another, I arrived at the Christina Psalter which is associated with Christina of Norway. But when I Googled for more information and used Christina and Psalter as my search words, I came upon another… the Psalter of Christina of Markyate, also known as the St. Albans Psalter.

Christina of Markyate was born about the same year—AD 1100—as Heloise and is believed to have died around 1160, just a few years before the abbess herself. In many respects this Christina’s life was a mirror image of Heloise’s… nearly identical and yet opposite. While Heloise fell madly in love with Abelard as a young girl and ran away with him to hide her pregnancy, she was forced to become a nun even though the two had married. Christina of Markyate took a vow of chastity as a young girl so she could devote her life to Christ, yet her parents arranged for her to marry against her wishes. She refused to consummate the relationship and ran away and took up a hermit 's life, eventually connecting with St. Albans. She was greatly revered by those who knew her. She received a grant from Henry II in 1155, the year after he became King of England. At that time, Henry II was married to Eleanor of Aquitaine and still on good terms with her... meaning Eleanor very likely knew or knew of Christina of Markyate.

Lady Christina, as she was called in various notations, transformed the image of the Magdalene into a personal model of spiritual life. She had visions and experienced three events in her live that mirrored events that actually took place in Mary Magdalene’s life. As discussed in the University of Aberdeen’s English commentary of the St. Alban’s Psalter, “On three occasions she was visited ‘by a certain pilgrim’ whom she was unable to recognize. The first time he was received hospitably but did not linger; the second time he was entertained to a meal by Christina and her sister (Margaret) who served him like Mary and Martha [once served a meal to a sojourner]; and the final time he joined in a service with Christina and her nuns, but disappeared afterward even though all the doors were locked.”

My interest was captured by the idea that Christina of Markyate experienced events that occurred in Mary Magdalene’s life… because with respect to my work with The Story of the Grail, events in my own life seem to have mirrored events in Eleanor of Aquitaine’s life.

I once commented to someone that I knew the medieval tale as if I’d written it myself. In a few short weeks after reading it, I was aware of the sequence of strategies that were used to unlock its intended meaning. Others have made a career of the task and not come close to what I've laid out.

When I began writing this blog I mentioned that Eleanor’s daughter Marie, Countess of Champagne, was likely the one who provided her with Abelard and Heloise’s letters, the details of which were used in the story's writing. But on further consideration I can say without doubt that Eleanor’s second daughter with Louis, Alix, Countess of Blois, was Eleanor’s source of key material woven into The Story of the Grail.

Marie provided Eleanor with a time and place to deliver it. Eleanor appended her pseudonym with the name of the place that was home to the Champagne court and used the streets of Troyes during their annual Hot and Cold fairs for a minstrel to perform The Story of the Grail. In the 12th century, Eleanor's pseudonym, Chrétien de Troyes, very simply described the "Christian from Troyes."

Christina of Markyate was named Theodora at birth and only later changed it to something that more personally described her. If those who knew Christina of Markyate believed she was the reincarnation of Mary Magdalene and Eleanor understood her own destiny, then she wrote The Story of the Grail as proof to be presented to a captive audience. She set the stage for an opportunity to meet “Louis” hundreds of years in the future and the only way they might recognize each other was through the details that grew from the seed she planted.

She obviously has had some help in bringing her intention to life… because with the clues that came with the birds, I found the details. I know that "Louis" is alive. Though our paths have never crossed, I know his current name, his age, and even his height.

The Sacred Promise

In the biblical story, God promised that he would gather up the remnants of Israel and deliver them to the land of milk and honey.

For her part, Gabrielle Giffords publically embraced her Jewish heritage.

As noted in my last blog a baby was born on Christmas Day whose first name was Zachery, which means “God remembers.”

The name Christina means “follower of Christ."

The young Christina’s middle name, Taylor, literally means “a tailor,” as in one who sews together cloth or "remnants of fabric," repairs frayed seams, and alters clothing for a more suitable fit. It's also the surname of the young boy, Evan Taylor, who personifies the legend in the movie August Rush.

Christina's last name Green simply means the color green. And green is the color of the heart chakra. It is “the point of balance between deep earth (foundational, material, prime creation) and elevated reality (ethereal, spiritual, metaphysical creativity).” The chakra color meanings of the heart speak to us about fresh new growth, the promise new hope brings, the eternal nature of love and the ability to share that love for the common good. The heart is the dispatcher of information—all kinds of information. From physical, emotional, and intellectual the heart serves as the hub—and interconnects the matrix of existence. When green glows in your thoughts, it’s a cue to get back in step with the beating rhythm of the pulse of all life." (From http://www.whats-your-sign.com/)

The September 11th Connection

On September 11th, 2001, the moment that Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center (8:46am EDT/12:46pm UT/GMT), the positions of Sun, Moon, and planets and their corresponding Sabian Symbols were as follows:

The story the heavens began to sketch out that day, reveal a baby who is the reincarnation of a great teacher… as well as a widow whose past is brought to light.

Using details that have come with the gemstone, the “Swimming Race” could pertain to the salmon as an allegory for humans... which exceed all manner of obstacles in order to return to the place they were born to spawn a new generation, or their race to the ocean where each fish strives to reach sexual maturity.

To Kill a Mockingbird was among the five books listed in the novel Forrest Gump that provided the first map to the legend. While Forrest claimed that ole Boo Radley was “one serious idiot,” the words that are important now pertain to the mockingbird itself. In the novel it was said to be a sin to kill a mockingbird. In reality a mockingbird imitates the sounds of other birds and weaves them into a more complicated song. The deaths of the drum fish delivered silence. With noises off the mockingbird singing from the treetops has an opportunity to finally be heard. Given the September 11th connection, the mockingbird's song will rise above Osama bin Laden and his loyal followers, commonly known as al-Qaeda, who have sung a song against everything the Western World stands for.

"Circular Paths" reflects a Law of Nature. Everything—even cancer—returns to its source. Once again we're reminded that at the human level of existence, what goes around comes around.

The three stained-glass windows, one broken, can be seen as the three incredible journeys—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—whose single story originated in the Bible. The Golden Age of Islam introduced us to the astrolabe and heightened spirituality. In the third act people knew the story had been corrupted. But the time allotted for it has reached its end and the common ground of dialogue it was supposed to deliver is instead scattered with shards of glass.

"A Child Born of an Eggshell" refers to something that is developed and comes to life in an unusual or unlikely manner. While Lady Gaga did an exemplary job of acting out this Sabian Symbol at the Grammy Awards, the story that is “hatching” has been incubated and passed from one generation to another for thousands of years.

On March 11th, 2004, a terrorist cell with ties to Morocco hoped to mimic the 9/11 attack… exactly 911 days later. They targeted multiple commuter trains in Madrid. But their math was wrong as they forgot to consider the additional day that came with leap year… even though leap day occurred less than two weeks prior.

Not only are the images projected by the Sabian Symbols on this day accurate, they’re also prophetic. When the bombs exploded, all the players were in position to correct the ancient biblical story and usher in it's sequel.

The new Sacred Story arrives with a set of Divinely given Laws.

The Woman of Samaria at Jacob's well reminds us that details of the woman's life served to authenticate the validity of a man's words. In the movie Love Happens, Lane asks the question, "What hath struck the earth?" Once again, significant details have been provided from a mysterious source... and authenticated in the same manner in which the Hebrew Bible was designed to be authenticated.

As Declan showed us in the movie Leap Year, God has no problem playing porter and carrying "heavy baggage" all over creation. He’ll even put it through the wash when it gets dirty. It’ll be grand.

Authentication Is Required

This story moves with leaps and bounds and asks everyone to engage their imagination, but it must be understood that every idea that is said to be derived from the gemstone must be authenticated by another story within it, that is seemingly unrelated yet connected by shared details.

The newest addition to the gemstone brings the story into people's livingrooms, where according to Jerry Maguire, God has done some of his best work.

Details began appearing in the first season of Fox Network’s television series Glee. The more recent episode in season two, "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle,” connects details with several of the gemstone movies while the events surrounding the championship game capture the essence of the Mary Magdalene story and what's been happening in reality.

The name Sue means "lily" and provides the sign of the grail in a story that doesn't mention the legend by name. As an aside, Sylvester is a name shared with a black and white cat created by Friz Freleng that first appeared in the 1945 cartoon "Life with Feathers." Sylvester the cat was later paired with Tweety Bird. From their first encounter in "Tweety Pie" the cat routinely attempted to make lunch of the little guy.

In the early Glee episodes, Emma Pillsbury is pursued by Ken Tanaka, the first football coach, who affectionately calls her "M&M." Sue rarely addresses Emma by her correct name and on one occassion calls her "Eleanor." The name Pillsbury can be associated to the dough found in a grocery store refrigerator; a bread dough that rises as soon as it's free of its container.

The letters representing William McKinley High School, "WMHS," reveal the roles of the teachers and students are a mash-up of those who turned the grail legend upside down (W) when they sent the audience in search of something that could never be found and the authenticated works (M) written to put the biblical story back on track. The letters "HS" identify the new story as a "higher" (raised) school of learning which corresponds to the higher road in the details that came with the mass deaths of fish and birds.

At first glance, the school is named after William McKinley, the 25th President of the United States, whose surname, in reality, was given to the tallest mountain in North America. Mount McKinley is also called Denali by the native people who inhabit the area around it. Denali means "the high one" or "the great one." However, in Glee, William is the name of the Spanish teacher who takes over leadership of the glee club which is called New Directions. The sum of these details allow us to identify William Schuester as God incognito for the purposes of the gemstone. Not only is he giving personal attention to guiding the story, "Mr. Schue" is the cobbler making the shoes we'll be wearing in the near future.

At the end of Season One the students pay tribute to Will Schuester by singing the theme song from the movie "To Sir With Love," lyrics by Don Black and Mark London:

Those schoolgirl days
Of telling tales and biting nails are gone
But in my mind
I know they will still live on and on

But how do you thank someone
Who's taken you from crayons to perfume?
Oh, it isn't easy but I'll try

If you wanted the sky
I would write across the sky
In letters that would soar a thousand feet high

Like other stories in the gemstone, multiple characters can represent different aspects of a single "real life" person, while a single character might share details that connects him/her to multiple persons in reality.

The Championship Game

In a special episode made to be telecast on the heels of the SuperBowl, Sue is bored and looking for something that will get her engines fired up for the second half. Like the “stain effected” that was mentioned in National Treasure, she has a very large image of herself tattooed on her back . . . but the artist misspells her name. When she sees a cartoon with Felix, a different black cat, shoot an iron ball across a great distance, a light goes off in her head and she decides for Regionals she’s going to shoot one of her cheerleaders out of a cannon she's dubbed her "Sueclear " weapon. She ignores the suggestion that it comes with a 70% chance of catastrophic disaster and turns the words for her own motives by declaring it has a 30% chance of catastrophic success.

Artie, who captures the image of the crippled Fisher King, is confronted by the school bullies who have checked their “bucket list” and realize he's the only one of the Glee Club members to have not been slushied. Artie reminds them that he’s bound to a wheelchair and Dave responds, “I say equal opportunity for all,” just like Declan reminded Anna in Leap Year, “Your lot wanted equality . . .”

Coach Beiste talks about the sense of pride in the community that comes with a winning football team, grades go up, crime goes down . . . much like Nelson Mandela used the South African rugby team to overcome Apartheid in real life, as was captured in the movie Invictus.

Will Schuester tells Coach Beiste he has an idea for how to bring everyone together. Her response is, “You’re not going to try to kiss me again,” which comes as a reminder of the second near kiss between Anna and Declan, when she tells him he’s a beast, a beast in pain, like a lion with a thorn in his paw . . . a lovely, lovely lion.

When the bullying football players are required to join the Glee Club for one week, Rachel and the others throw a fit over having to share their space with known homophobes. It’s a scene with overtones that are familiar to the dinner in The Family Stone in which Meredith questions Sybil about whether she really wanted gay sons and suggests that Thad and Patrick have been hit twice before Kelly slams his fist down and states in no uncertain terms that everyone at his table understands being gay is a genetic predisposition. As a reminder, within the gemstone, Kelly Stone serves as God incognito; Thad was designed to be gay and is the only son in the course of the movie whose actions don't raise his father's eyebrows.

Rachel and Puck, who are both Jewish, sing Lady Antebellum’s song, "Need You Now." The lyrics, “Picture perfect memories, scattered all around the floor,” remind us of Susie Salmon’s photos that captured her in a moment of time, while “Wishing you’d come sweeping in like you did before. . .” is reminiscent to the falcon that swept in and felled the goose in The Story of the Grail. After Rachel sings, "And I wonder if I ever cross your mind," we see Coach Beiste mouthing the words, "For me it happens all the time." In that moment, we might consider that Coach Beiste is another aspect of God incognito, however she's already told us she's tending to "the Panther's business."

When Sue is told she needs to get permission from whomever is going to be shot out of the cannon, she goes berserk just like Bretton James goes berserk and destroys the portrait of Saturn devouring his son in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

And like Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, Rachel and Quinn share the detail of singing duets in New Direction's performances as well as rotating between the arms of Puck and Finn. Rachel loves the limelight and aspires to be a Broadway star; Quinn is a cheerleader with her desires set on becoming Prom Queen. Sue calls Quinn "Q," associating her with the source of words that appear in the Gospels of the New Testament, but it's more likely a detail that ties Quinn to Rachel.

Brittany S. Pierce's claim to fame rests on her name which she believes is the same as Britney Spears. Brittany is the simpleton in the cast, like Forrest Gump and Perceval. The question that Perceval was required by destiny to answer pertained to why the lance/spear at the Fisher King’s manor house always had a drop of blood forming at its tip. Perhaps the reason we've been asked to answer the question is because the spear actually pierced someone other than Jesus. The idea works to authenticate the notion that the stories of Jesus and Paul became confused and it was actually Paul, not Jesus, who was crucified.

Alternately, the details raise the possibility that Jesus was the one with the spear or weapon that pierced Paul. And NOBODY was crucified in the way that's described in the New Testament. This idea of Jesus being a murderer is supported by Vocal Adrenaline's performance at Regionals where Jesse St. James is the lead for Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. As he sings, "Mama. Just killed a man," Quinn is seen at the hospital giving birth.

Quinn's baby is given the name Beth by her father, Noah(Puck), after he finds meaning in the lyrics of a song of the same name, performed by the band Kiss. Quinn gives the baby up for adoption. Rachel's birth mother, Shelby Corcoran, who herself served as a surrogate for Rachel's two fathers sixteen or so years earlier, becomes Beth's adoptive mother.

When Rachel meets Shelby for the first time, each sees themselves in the other. Both are special in their own right, but Shelby is perceived to know how to sew clothing and puts together a very futuristic outfit for Rachel to wear.

Rachel asks if it was hard for Shelby to not have become a star, to not have her dreams come true. Shelby shares that it felt like a broken promise. "Like the fisher king's wound--it never heals."

The intent behind The Story of the Grail was to heal the wounded fisher king and bring an end to the wasteland. We should entertain the idea that the baby Quinn gives birth to is "the story" breathed into life.

In "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" the glee club male members, including the temporary expansion of football players, warm-up by singing the Zombies' “She’s Not There,” lyrics by Rod Argent. Imagine for a moment that they're singing about someone in times past...

As Finn leads the male members of the expanded glee club in their zombie dance, Tina is in the front row mimicking their movements and enjoying every minute.

Across town, the Warblers practice the song they’re planning on performing for Glee Club Regionals: Destiny Child’s “Bills, Bills, Bills.” The song bemoans the high cost of a certain relationship that started off really cool, taking us places we had never been; but now… not so much.

You trifling, good for nothing type of brother
Silly me, why haven’t I found another,
A baller, when times get hard he’s the one to help me out
Instead of, a scrub like you, who don’t know what a man’s about


Brittany is chosen by Sue to be shot out of the cannon and is coerced into giving permission with a story about the momma cannon who suffers from fibromyalgia, a disease in which pain is felt everywhere. When given the release form, she begins to write her name and then stops to ask, “How many M’s are in the letter R?” Sue glares down at her and says, “Make an 'X'.”

A New Direction

In her book, The Woman with the Alabaster Jar (page 124), Margaret Starbird discusses a mural by the Dominican friar, Fra Angelico, who painted the walls of cells in the San Marco Convent in Florence. The painting in cell #1 is called “Noli Me Tangere,” or “Do Not Touch Me.” The inspiration behind it is the scene in John 20:17 in which Mary Magdalene has discovered the empty tomb and has been weeping when a figure appears before her. At first she thinks it’s the gardener because he’s carrying a hoe, but when she suddenly realizes that it is Christ, she makes an effort to embrace him. He steps back, literally telling her, “Touch me not.”

In The Lovely Bones, Holly tells Susie that they aren't supposed to touch people once they've died. But this idea of touching or not touching isn't the significant detail of the mural. Fra Angelico added three tiny red Xs among the flowers in the grass beneath Mary’s left hand. As Margaret Starbird explains in her book, historically the red X was a secret esoteric symbol for truth that was used to identify the fundamental flaw in Christian doctrine.

The three X's may have been symbolic of the three children Mary and Paul had together. In my blog, “Knots and Knots of Fish,” the meaning of the X was expanded to symbolize two hands coming together, an image that was visually captured with the entwined hands during the first kiss shared by Gray and Fritz in Catch and Release.

The three Xs in the 15th century painting suggest there are three pairs of hands that are recognized by those familiar with the “heretical” version of the biblical story; three couples who have knowingly or perhaps in Louis' case unknowingly, guided transitional periods.

As an aside, in the Rocky Horror episode of Glee, Will attempts to ignite the flame that once existed between him and Emma. He assumes the role of Rocky, originally given to Sam, and asks Emma to practice "Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch-Me" with him. Given what we've learned, the scene suggests whoever "Emma" represents in reality, is very much alive.

Who's Judy? And the Crowd Goes Quiet

In “The Sue Sylvester Shuffle,” the bullying football players get slushied by the hockey team who claim it's "Independence Day." The football bullies can’t take what they’ve dished out, so they quit not only the Glee Club but also walk away from the football team and the opportunity to play in the championship game. In order to meet regulations that mandate a certain number of players on the field, the Glee girls decide to join the boys’ football team so the game can go on as scheduled. The plan is that they will lie down on the field, so they won’t get sacked, and let the guys handle the actual play.

When the game whistle blows, Finn tells the team, "Punch and Judy on one." Rachel asks, "Who's Judy?"

Despite their plan, as half-time nears the girls are getting beaten up and Mercedes says, “Just kill me now.” Finn assures her that won't be necessary.

Tina wants to get into the game and an opportunity presents itself. On a fumble, she jumps to her feet, grabs the loose ball, and takes off for the end zone. But as she’s running she gets tackled from behind. She goes down hard and is motionless as players and trainers run to her aid. The crowd grows quiet. When Tina finally opens her eyes, the first words out of her mouth are, “Did we win?”

A Story Written by the Very Moving of the Moon

This story and its outcome have already been written. It was resolved a long time ago. We are only just now catching up with it. After the birds and fish died, the invisible pen of the Master Storyteller was given to the the Moon. Every aspect of it—as in sextile, square, trine, opposition, and conjunction—as the Moon moved through the sky, wrote a piece of the story via the Sabian Symbols which came into being in the year 1925.

Below, I’ve provided a sketch of the story, beginning with the New Moon and Solar Eclipse of January 4th, 2011, stopping just before the New Moon of March 4th.

Each of the Sabian Symbols provides a word image. The Sun began with words that describe the raising of figures above their granite backdrop. Many of the words that follow touch upon “the War” that was declared on Christmas Day.

The delicate handling provided by a Chinese Laundry captures the cleansing or renewal of the Sacred Story that clothes us… which utilizes the services of a tailor to mend frayed seams or replace a button, allowing proper closure.

The Relay Race marks the passing of the torch from one person to another.

The ancient pottery bowl filled with fresh violets might allude to the alabaster jar with special oils once said to have been used by Mary Magdalene to anoint Jesus… which in The Lovely Bones we’re told never happened. That pottery bowl is now filled with violets.

Spring is not far when the Violets come to call. Its fragrance is sweet. The Violet has been used for centuries as a key ingredient for perfumes to arouse and stir whirlpools of love. In ancient festival and ceremonies Violets were often woven as a crown to be worn upon the head. This signified high minded intentions as well as protection from mental ruin. The color violet is symbolic of the Crown chakra and also represents the connection between heaven and earth. When given as a gift to someone they mean “you are unique, special, and part of a perfect whole.”

Like the details of the gemstone, the words belonging to the Sabian Symbols repeat from one aspect to another, like a multi-colored "yarn" weaving in and out, connecting one to the next. As Declan told Anna in Leap Year, this new story is “about dinner.” This particular evening dinner comes after a long day of hard work. But it's meant to be pleasant. Anna applied her staging talents so the table is welcoming; now it's waiting for an evening of magnificent food, aged wine, good company, and if we're lucky... an amazing kiss.

The empty hammock on January 12th is an image we can associate with the hammock that Gray reclined in on the porch in Catch and Release. Perhaps it’s empty because the real "Gray" has joined “Fritz” in his lovely house on the ocean just outside the City of Angels... which has ties to the Old Adobe Mission in California and the angel Gabriel.

With the First Quarter Moon that arrived on January 12th, the Gate to the Garden of All Fulfilled Desires was opened. If this were the story in Genesis, we've reached the part where we're scrambling for leaves behind the bushes. In that story, God called out to Adam and Eve and questioned them to make sure they recognized that their actions initiated everything that would follow. Then He clothed them.

Our clothing has gotten a bit worn and tattered in some areas and stretched to the max in others... we very much needed the services of a tailor to help us get ready. But for a period of time, we'll be stripped naked.

The Tree of Knowledge has served its purpose; it's the tree felled and cut to supply us with wood to get us through the winter and likewise provides the 10 logs beneath the archway that lead to darker woods.

We're very much in the midst of ending the story that began in the Garden of Eden and beginning the story in the Garden of All Fulfilled Desires. However, it's always darkest before the dawn. This isn't the end of the world by any means, but Nature isn't done carving out the details that will mark the beginning of the New Day.

Just as the numbers on a clock are passed twice in a single "day," there are two Moon cycles that sketch the outline of the story. The Last Quarter Moon of February 24th introduces a game of Cricket, a game which adheres to a Moral Code.

As an aside, this Last Quarter Moon occurred at 11:26 p.m. which, depending on the angle and reflection of the clock in Gordon Gekko's London office, is the time when he makes a decision concerning what's in the best interest for all considered.

In addition to a Moral Code, the new story going forward will concern itself with Ethics, as in making choices that bring the greatest good to the greatest number of people. Farewell to the "me" generation.
